How do you track your workouts?

Picture 7 Last week I started something new – riding my bicycle to work.

As part of my new fitness routine, I decided to also start tracking my rides. Not only did I want to know how many calories I was burning (and, more importantly, how much of my homemade guacamole I could eat later), I also wanted a record of my workouts – Something I could look at it when I am feeling less than motivated.

Because several of my friends were using the site DailyMile.com to track their workouts, that's were I decided to log my miles. Through the free account I could set up favorite courses so I don't have to input the mileage each time I ride my commute; track my miles and calculate calories burned. If I used a Garmin or Nike+ I could sync my device with Daily Mile to update my latest efforts. I was surprised there wasn't a DailyMile app for my iPhone, but they do have a good mobile site which allows me to input a workout on the fly.

I can also share my workouts with friends on the web site, as well as update my status on Facebook and Twitter. Why? Because, let's face it, I may be working out for myself, but I can use all the encouragement and validation I can get!

I've ridden to and from work four times in two weeks and I love it. I also really enjoy seeing the progress I'm making on my DailyMile web site.
